Hi, we are Jip & Jip. Two trans non-binary people. Together, we are working on the relaunch of an online tool: Pro-Now.com. With Pro-Now, you can practice using pronouns. As trans people, we encounter others using our pronouns incorrectly on a daily basis. Not out of bad intentions, but out of unawareness. Aside from the fact that this is, of course, very frustrating, over the years we also noticed that people often find this “very difficult,” and that the expectation still tends to be that we are the ones who should explain, teach, or correct others. We want to carry this burden collectively. We want to offer people who genuinely want to do better, a safe environment in which they can practice. That is why we created Pro-Now.

The correct use of pronouns saves lives.

Transgender and non-binary people face misgendering, discrimination, and violence every single day. More than half of young trans and non-binairy people consider attempting suicide; nearly one in five actually do. These numbers show how crucial social support is. One of the most impactful forms of that support is simple but powerful: correctly using someone’s name and pronouns.

Pro-Now offers a place where you can practice at your own pace, without putting the burden on anyone else. As a trans person, you are constantly explaining yourself, day in and day out. With Pro-Now, we want to create a space where everyone can learn and practice, so that together we can build a more inclusive society. That is why this tool is by the trans community, for society as a whole.

Why we need your support

We have already received funding from the Cultuurfonds and the Municipality of The Hague, but because gender diversity and inclusive language are still so new, it is difficult to fully fund this project. At the moment, we do not yet have sufficient funding to take all the necessary steps to realize Pro-Now.
We still need €10,000 to make Pro-Now possible, in order to:

Further develop the tool with new people, faces, and (multiple) pronouns, including a feature that allows you to practice with the name of your child, colleague, or student;
Create a traveling exhibition;
Provide a training program in healthcare, education, culture, and other sectors.

December is the moment for organizations to create social impact while also benefiting from tax advantages. A donation made before December 31 can be included in this year’s tax return, often allowing companies to reclaim a significant portion of the gift.
