Pro-Now was created by BO Diversity; an organisation that is dedicated to creating a society where gender equality is reality. To do so, BO Diversity reframes sexuality norms and gender. They focus on gender diversity, sexual freedom, and women’s empowerment, while paying attention to overlap and connection between these topics.

This project stems from the personal experiences of trans and non-binary individuals. It’s more than just an initiative, it has in fact become a necessity. Navigating a world that isn’t always understanding is challenging. We frequently encounter situations where people misgender us, stumble over pronouns, or avoid the conversation out of fear of making mistakes. We understand that this is new for many people, and it certainly requires practice. That’s why we, the trans community, are reaching out to you. With Pro-Now, we hope to connect and provide you with a space to practise and make mistakes. Together, we can work towards a society where everyone feels like they are seen and are heard.

Pro-Now is an online tool to practise using pronouns correctly. The goal is to raise awareness and provide a safe space for those wanting to learn about inclusive language.
Pro-Now consists of four levels, with each level becoming slightly more challenging. You’ll meet eight different people, who reappear in each level. Your task is to remember their pronouns and place them in the correct spots. And remember, Pro-Now is free!
Research by The Trevor Project shows that 59% of trans men, 48% of trans women, and 53% of non-binary youth have considered attempting suicide. Of these, almost 1 in 5 trans and non-binary youth have actually attempted it. Young people whose pronouns are respected by everyone around them report nearly 50% fewer suicide attempts. This highlights the importance of social support. In short, the correct use of language can save lives, so let’s work towards a society where everyone feels seen and heard!
Pro-Now is for anyone who wants to practise using pronouns. You might have a child who uses new pronouns, maybe you interact with trans and non-binary people at work, or you simply want to learn. Whatever the reason, Pro-Now offers a place to practise, whether you’re a beginner or already a pro!
Pronouns are used to address people without mentioning their name. Everyone uses pronouns, often without realising it. Examples of pronouns include: he/him, she/her, they/them, and ze/zir. Everyone has a preference on how they’d like to be addressed. Read the blog ‘What are pronouns?’
You can practise on Pro-Now in Dutch and English. Even if the website is in English, you can still practise in Dutch, if you’re trying to learn the language . As a Dutch speaker, you can equally practise in English.
